Privacy Policy
Glide collects only what's needed to give you a safe ride — and we never sell your personal information.
Last updated June 7, 2026. Glide is preparing for public launch; this policy describes our current data practices and will be finalized before launch. Questions or requests? Email hello@glide.earth.
Who this applies to
This policy covers everyone who uses Glide: riders, drivers, and donors. Glide provides free, donation-funded rides to people with disabilities and adults 65 and over.
Information we collect
We collect only what we need to operate the service:
- Riders: your name, phone number, a password, your self-declared eligibility (disability or 65+), any accessibility needs, your saved places, the pickup and destination of each ride, your trip history and ratings, and any messages or emergency (SOS) details you send during a ride.
- Drivers:your name, email, phone number, a password, your vehicle details, your driver's license and registration documents, background-check status, and your location while you are online and giving rides.
- Donors: the amount you give and, if you choose, your name and email (for a receipt). Card payments are handled by our payment processor — Glide never sees or stores your full card number.
How we use your information
- To request, match, route, and complete your rides.
- To keep rides safe — identity and background checks for drivers, live trip tracking, and responding to SOS alerts.
- To send ride updates and verification codes by push notification and text.
- To process donations and send receipts.
- To show the public supporters wall and driver leaderboard — which only ever display the name a person chooses to share.
What we don't do
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising. We collect the minimum needed to give you a safe ride.
When we share information
We share information only in these limited ways:
- With your driver, so they can reach the pickup and complete the trip — they see your name and route, but your phone number is relayed through a masked number.
- With anyone you choose, when you share a live trip link with a family member or caregiver. You can revoke that link at any time.
- With service providers who operate the service on our behalf — payment processing, text-message verification, mapping and routing, driver background checks, and secure cloud hosting — under agreements that limit their use of your data.
- When required by law, or to protect someone's safety.
How we protect your information
Data is encrypted in transit, passwords are stored only as salted hashes, and sensitive fields — such as ride addresses, saved-place and emergency locations, and in-ride messages — are encrypted at rest. Access is limited to what each role needs.
Your choices and rights
You can delete your account at any time from your Account screen in the app, or by emailing hello@glide.earth. Deleting your account removes or anonymizes your personal information; some records may be kept in anonymized form where required for safety or legal reasons. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to access, correct, or export your data, or to object to certain uses — contact us to make a request.
Children
Glide is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we'll update this page and the date above, and notify you in the app where appropriate.
