Terms of Service

The simple agreement that lets us keep rides free, safe, and available for everyone who needs them.

Last updated July 3, 2026. Please read these Terms carefully. They include an assumption of the risks of travel, disclaimers of warranties, limitations of our liability, and a binding arbitration agreement and class-action waiver — which you may opt out of within 30 days — that affect how disputes are resolved. Questions? hello@glide.earth.

Agreement to these terms

These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and Glide Earth LLC, a New York limited liability company (“Glide,” “we,” or “us”). By creating an account, requesting or taking a ride, contributing, or otherwise using Glide's apps, website, and services (together, the “Service”), you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.

Who Glide is for

Glide provides free, contribution-funded rides to people with disabilities and to adults 65 and over. Eligibility is self-declared when you sign up. You agree that the information you provide is accurate and that you meet the eligibility requirements for any account you create.

Rides are free

There is never a fare, booking fee, or tip. Glide is funded entirely by voluntary contributions. Because rides depend on those contributions and on drivers available in your area, we cannot guarantee that a ride will be available at any particular time or place, and we do not promise any specific pickup time, wait time, or route.

Your account

Keep your password and phone secure, and give accurate information. You are responsible for all activity under your account, and you agree to notify us promptly of any unauthorized use. You can delete your account at any time from the Account screen. We may suspend or end accounts that are misused, that provide false information, or that put riders, drivers, or the public at risk.

Acceptable use

When you use the Service, you agree not to:

  • break any law or violate anyone's rights;
  • harass, threaten, endanger, or discriminate against a driver, rider, or member of the public;
  • misrepresent your identity or eligibility;
  • interfere with or disrupt the Service, or try to access it in an unauthorized way;
  • reverse-engineer, scrape, or copy the Service except as expressly allowed by law; or
  • submit fraudulent contributions or payment information.

We may investigate suspected violations and take any action we consider appropriate, including removing content, suspending access, and reporting to law enforcement.

Text messages

Glide sends only transactional text messages — a one-time code when you verify your number or sign in, and masked communication with your safety operator during a trip. We never send marketing texts. By entering your mobile number and requesting a code, you consent to receive these messages; message and data rates may apply, and message frequency depends on your use of the service. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Safety — Glide is not an emergency service

Glide's in-app SOS alerts our support team, but it is not a substitute for emergency services. In a life-threatening emergency, always call 911 (or your local emergency number) first — never rely on Glide, the app, or your safety operator in place of emergency services. Treat your driver and fellow community members with respect; harassment, threats, or unsafe behavior may result in removal.

Assumption of risk

Travel carries inherent risks, including the ordinary risks of riding in a motor vehicle and in an autonomous (self-driving) vehicle supervised by a human safety operator. To the fullest extent permitted by law, you understand and voluntarily assume the ordinary risks of travel that are not caused by Glide's own negligence or misconduct. Nothing in this section waives, and nothing in these Terms waives, any liability that cannot be waived under applicable law — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or willful misconduct.

Drivers

Drivers enroll their self-driving Teslas and volunteer their time as the safety operator on board — riding along on every trip, supervising the autonomous drive, and remaining responsible for the safe operation of the vehicle in accordance with all traffic and accessibility laws. Drivers must pass identity verification and a background check and keep a valid license and registration on file. Drivers are independent — they are not employees of Glide.

Contributions

Contributions are voluntary and, except where required by law, non-refundable. Contributions, net of payment-processing fees, fund free rides. Glide Earth LLC is a for-profit company, not a 501(c)(3) charity, so contributions are not tax-deductible. If you have a question about a contribution, contact us.

Disclaimers

We work hard to keep Glide safe and reliable, but the Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Glide disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement, and any warranty that the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free. Drivers are independent, and Glide is not responsible for the acts, omissions, or conduct of any driver, rider, or other third party except as required by law. Some places do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of these exclusions may not apply to you.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Glide and its owners, officers, employees, and affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of — or inability to use — the Service. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Glide's total liability for all claims relating to the Service will not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars ($100). These limits apply even if a remedy fails of its essential purpose. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or willful misconduct. Some places do not allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you.

Indemnification

To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Glide and its owners, officers, employees, and affiliates from any claims, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to your misuse of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or the rights of another.

Dispute resolution and governing law

These Terms, and any dispute between you and Glide, are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules; the Federal Arbitration Act governs the interpretation and enforcement of the arbitration agreement below. Before starting an arbitration or any permitted court action, you agree to first contact us at hello@glide.earth and to work with us in good faith for 30 days to resolve the dispute. Any claim arising out of or relating to the Service must be brought within one (1) year after the claim arises, or it is permanently barred, except where a longer period is required by law. For any dispute that is not subject to arbitration, you and Glide agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Suffolk County, New York — except where applicable law gives you the right to bring your claim elsewhere.

Arbitration and class-action waiver

Please read this section carefully — it affects your legal rights, including your right to sue in court, to a jury trial, and to take part in a class action.

If we can't resolve a dispute informally, you and Glide agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be resolved by binding, individual arbitration — not in court — administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. The arbitrator's award may be entered in any court with jurisdiction.

Class-action waiver: You and Glide agree to bring claims only in an individual capacity, and not as a plaintiff or member in any class, collective, consolidated, or representative proceeding. The arbitrator may not combine more than one person's claims. If this class-action waiver is found unenforceable as to a particular claim, that claim (and only that claim) will proceed in court rather than in arbitration; the rest of this section still applies.

Except for the exceptions below, you and Glide each waive any right to sue in court or to a trial by jury. Either party may still bring an individual claim in small-claims court, and either party may ask a court for an injunction or other equitable relief to protect its intellectual property or to stop misuse of the Service. Nothing here requires arbitration of any claim that cannot be arbitrated under applicable law. Arbitration fees are governed by the AAA Consumer Arbitration Rules, and arbitration may be conducted by written submissions, by phone or video, or in person in the county where you live.

Your right to opt out: you can opt out of this arbitration agreement within 30 days of first accepting these Terms by emailing hello@glide.earth with your name and the phone number on your account. Opting out won't affect any other part of these Terms, and you'll keep your right to go to court.

Suspension and termination

We may suspend or end your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms or created a risk to riders, drivers, the public, or Glide. You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. The sections that by their nature should survive — including Disclaimers, Limitation of liability, Indemnification, Dispute resolution, and Arbitration and class-action waiver — will survive termination.

Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll post the new date above and, for material changes, notify you in the app or by text. By continuing to use Glide after an update takes effect, you accept the updated Terms.

Feedback

If you send us ideas or feedback about the Service, you agree we may use them freely, without any obligation or payment to you.

General

If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, that provision will be limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary, and the rest will remain in full effect. These Terms are the entire agreement between you and Glide about the Service and supersede any prior agreements about it. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. Section headings are for convenience only.
